My First Julep Experience

Hi Lovelies!  I am a self proclaimed nail polish addict and I love checking out the newest colors and trends.  I had heard about Julep a while back, thanks to youtube and beauty blogs, but I never got around to trying it.

Julep is a monthly  subscription service that chooses nail polishes that reflect your style based on a style quiz.  If you are not crazy about the colors, you can view all of the style profiles and pick the one you like best!  I believe it is $19.99 per month but I received my first box for one cent by using the coupon code: color2012

Anyways, the box came in less than a week and here is what I got:

My style is Boho Glam :)

 The Packaging is super cute!

My package came with two polishes and a foot creme

Now on to the nail polish:

Sasha- a fresh cantaloupe, melon creme
Toni- Greige with a hint of lavender creme

The colors are both really pretty in person and true to their descriptions.  I love creme finishes!  I have not yet tried Sasha but I am currently wearing Toni on my nails below (w/ Sephora by OPI Only Gold For Me as my ring finger accent). It was easy to apply and I only needed two coats for full opacity.

I really like the Julep Nail Polishes and think they are good quality.  However I am not sure I want to commit $19.99 a month to the service on top of my impulse Essie and OPI purchases.  I may do another month or two and then decide....stay tuned :)  Have you tried Julep? Let me know what you think.

P.S. if you are interested in trying Julep, click the Boho Glam button on the bottom of this page which will take you directly to the site.

Fab French Nails

Hi Ladies! I was playing around with my nail polish and came up with this amazing nail look that I just had to share. French nails look so classy, and using glitter as the french tip definitely takes it up a notch. I have gotten so many compliments on this look and it was super easy to achieve.

I used two Essie colors for this look:

  • Topless and Barefoot
  • Set in Stones

First, paint two to three coats of Essie's Topless and Barefoot on your nails until they are opaque. Next, take Essie's Set in Stones and lightly drag it across the top of each nail to draw the tip. The glitter makes the application pretty easy because it looks precise if the overall line is even. You can also go over it and touch up the line with more glitter if necessary. Let your nails dry for ten minutes or so before painting on a clear top coat to seal in the glitter....and voila, beautiful french nails with a kick!

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Hi Ladies! Revlon has served up another win with their amazing line of Colorburst Lip Butters! I am in love with them! Virtually every beauty blog has mentioned these as they take the beauty world by storm.

These lip butters are offered in a wide range of colors (20 shades), which is dangerous for makeup addicts such as myself. I originally purchased only two because I wanted to see if they lived up to the hype. They were so amazing that I went back and bought three more!

The formula of the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters is fantastic. Made with ingredients such as mango, shea, and coconut butter, it is ultra-moisturizing. The Lip Butters go on very smooth, like a lip balm, and have the color payoff of a lipstick. They remind me of Dior Addict Lipsticks and Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipsticks. The Lip Butters have a very slight vanilla scent and no noticeable taste. Below I have applied the colors to my lips so you can see how they look on:

Creamsicle (pale peachy pink)

Cupcake (sheer cool pink)

Sweet Tart (bright candy pink)

Candy Apple (bright warm red)

Red Velvet ( deep red)

Some colors are sheerer than others, but they are all somewhat buildable if you desire more color payoff. I particularly like Red Velvet for a special occasion lip color, and Cupcake for an everyday color. They have average wear and I find myself re-applying every couple hours.

If you have not yet tried any of the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters, you are missing out! They should be available in most drugstores by January 2012.
